Notice we are in the poring rain and Bear's still having a great time.

Bear completed his Championship on 12/18/94 with his third major.  His title was completed at the Western Reserve Kennel Club show in Ohio.

Bear completed his Companion Dog Title (CD) on 9/19/96 at the American Chesapeake Club National.  Bear received two first places, one second place and one third place on his way to his title. 

Bear was the 7th highest placing Chesapeake Bay Retriever in the 1996 Delaney Rating System for obedience. 

Bear completed his Junior Hunter Title on 6/21/97 at the Labrador Retriever Club in Hamden, Ohio.

Bear completed his Senior Hunter Title on 9/13/98 at the Greater Pittsburgh Golden Retriever Club in Pittsburgh PA.

Bear completed the requirements for his Working Dog Qualified certificate on 10/3/99.

Bear has more than a dozen first places in Hunting Dog & Veteran Dog classes at Chesapeake Supported entries from 1996 through 2005. 

Bear was Best of Veteran Sweepstakes at the Mid-Coast Kennel Club's supported entry 9/3/2005 in Maine.  (picture below on left taken by Fritz Clark, photographer.)

Bear was first place in Veterans Sweepstakes, 12 and older dogs at the American Chesapeake Club National Show Specialty October 11 -16, 2005 in Frederick, Maryland.  (Picture below on right taken by Jane Papplar official photographer Chesapeake National).  That was Bears official retirement.

Bear crossed over the rainbow bridge on August 18, 2006.  He was 13 years, 1 month and 1 day old, the oldest dog that I've ever owned.  For the last year of his life he was spoiled rotten and got to do and eat anything he wanted.  He will be missed especially for his antics, like the entire time he was in the show ring during his last year he had a smile on his face, a spring in his step.  He got the judges mad because he couldn't keep all four of his feet on the ground, which made it very difficult for them to judge.  He was my first show champion, my first hunting partner and hunting competitor and baby sitter.    I'd like to thank Dyane Baldwin who talked me into buying him so many years ago, he did everything I ever asked him with a smile on his face and enthusiasm in his heart.  His puppies and grand-puppies and great grand-puppies are following in his footsteps with titles in conformation, hunt tests, agility and obedience.
