CH Pond Hollow N TLC's Glacier Bay NAP NJP MH WDQ**

Glacier Bay was bred by Dyane Baldwin and was owned by Dyane Baldwin and Kathy Heintel.

Glacier Bay passed away on July 18, 2011 just 18 days past her 13th birthday.

Glacier Bay was a very loving, serious worker.  Glacier had four litters with finished Champions, agility titled and hunt titled offspring.  She was very easy to work with and she loved to please whom ever she was with.  Glacier Bay enjoyed the show ring and the hunt fields but best of all cuddling up next to you and making you smile.  She's alway carried a toy in her mouth just in case you want to play. Glacier was also my favorite hunting companion.

Congratulations to Adele Heintel and CH. Pond Hollow N TLC's Glacier Bay MH WDQ.**   Adele acquired her very first AKC title when Glacier Bay finished three legs towards her Novice Agility Preferred Title at Greater Pittsburgh Golden Retriever's agility trial on 7/23/06.  Glacier Bay received two first placements and one second placement on her way to the title.  Glacier and Adele earned the Jumpers with weaves novice title on 12/15/06.  Adele and Glacier Bay competed in Open Agility Preferred 20" and have two legs in standard and one leg in Jumpers from the Cuyahoga Valley Golden Retriever Club August 2007 trial.
Glacier Bay passed away on July 18, 2011 just 18 days past her 13th birthday.
In the summer of 1998 I went to visit Dyane Baldwin to look at the dogs in her kennel.  Since I was only there to look, Dyane fed all the puppies after we were done playing with them.  While they took their naps Dyane decided I should take one of the puppies home with me.  I was excited right until 15 minutes into the way home the puppy started to puke.  That poor puppy puked for 6 hours.  I stopped at every rest area to clean her up.  I even tried to put her in with Kodiak to try and calm her, she puked all over Kodiak and then I had to clean up Kodiak too.  I was sure each time she puked it would be the last, after all how much could one little puppy hold?  Three hours into the trip I was trying to decide if I should turn around to continue.  I didn't want to arrive back at Dyane's with this sick puppy she had intrusted to me.  So I continued home.  By time I got there the puppy was so sorry looking.  After that trip and for the next 3 years any time she even got close to the car she would puke.  Sitting in a crate next to the car, it would take less that 5 minutes for her to puke.  Hence her first nick name "Barf-O-Matic."  I tried everything, until one day eathing McDonalds and listening to her  puke right behind my seat, I stopped the car and threw her into the trailer.  I knew it was probably a ruffer ride and I'd have a good clean up when I got home but I wanted to eat in peace.  To my surprise there was no mess to clean up when I opened her trailer door, she never got sick in the trailer.  From that day forward she road in the trailer and never ever got sick.  Car pooling to a show with a friend 3 - 4  years later I forgot all about Barf-O-Matic and guess what, she puked in his car!!!!
When I was potty training her, I made one of the biggest mistakes ever.  When ever she was peeing instead of waiting until she was done I would pet her and tell her what a good girl she was.  Guess what for the rest of her life, if anyone would pet her and say good girl, she would squat and pee.  That earned her her second nick name "Pet-N-Pee"  We're off to a great start with this puppy!!!!  I'm sure that when St Peter welcomed her by leaning over and patting her on the head and telling her that she was a "good girl", she peed.  She did until the day she died, it didn't matter where she was or what she was doing.  She showed everyone how good she was trained to do that one very simple trick I taught her so long ago for her entire life.
For the first 6 months I had her, Bob Reckart the field trainer I worked with kept saying take her back.  She would sit and watch the other dogs retrieve and never once tried to interfer with them or go get the bumpers for herself.  She would just sit and watch, we didn't even have to tie her up.  She would sit at the line and watch!  Bob kept saying she had no drive or desire.  But I believed in her (or maybe I'm just to much of a chessie to give up).  So she kept watching and I kept trying to find any interest in her.  One day a dog Bob was running gave him a no go, without hesitating this little puppy ran the field trial mark and brought back the bird.  She never looked back after that.  She was hooked and never made many mistakes, she had learned it all by watching.  She was steady, marked well, returned to heel position, delivered to hand and lined up for the next mark all on her own that day and all those days after.  No one ever thaught she would ever break (after all what would you expect from a glacier).  She only broke once in her entire life and I didn't even correct her for it (I was in shock) everyone was so surprised they actually cheered her on!!!
For her first dog show I took her ring side 1 hour before class time.  I let her watch the dogs and handlers in the ring.  She was facinated by all that was going on and watch intensely.  When it was her turn she went in stood square, gated around, stacked again, let the judge exam her (of course the bait didn't hurt any but she knew it was coming), she did her L pattern without tripping me and stacked again.  I don't even remember if she placed that day but she had it down and never had any trouble in the show ring.  She never went to a conformation class or practised, Glacier didn't need too.

Glacier was so proud of winning that toy.
