We're excited to announce our new training associate Daphne Black.  Daphne will be training dogs for Amberwood Kennels.

Congratulations to Lexi and her owner Mike, Lexi finsihed her Junior Hunter title on June 25, 2010 at the Fort Detroit Golden Retriever Club's hunt test in Williamston MI.

Congratulations to Treasure Lake Montauk Nellie and owner Caroline, Nellie finished her Junior Hunter title on June 13, 2010 at the Cuyahoga Valley Golden Retriever club hunt test.  Nellie was handled by Kathy and David Bauman when Kathy couldn't make it there.  (Thanks David).  Nellie is Who's sister from the Blink and Gator litter of 2006.
 

Condor finished her Novice Standard Agility and her Novice Jumpers with Weaves agility titles on Friday June 4th 2010 at the Cuyahoga Valley Golden Retriever Club's agility trial.

Red Hawk finished her championship on May 28, 2010 at the Holland Michigan Kennel Club dog show at Kalamazoo MI.

"Amazing" finished her Championship at the Auburn IN dog show on 3/14/2010 taking her second major and best of winners and best of opposite sex.

Coco was awarded a bred by group 2nd on February 12, 2010 at the Hoosier KC dog show in Indianapolis IN.

2009 accomplishments

 Eleven titles in three different venues in 2009. 
3 champions: Condor, Blink & Eagle,
6 hunting titles: Carma MH, Red Hawk SH, Eagle JH, Van JH, Gina JH, Riley JH,
2 agility titles: Falcon AX & AXJ.
Plus other titles started but not finished yet.

Eagle finished his Championship at the Cleveland Classic Dog Show on December 13, 2009.  He went Winners Dog and Best Of Breed over the specials.

Coco was awarded a bred by group 4th at the Cleveland Classic Dog Show on December 11, 2009.

Red Hawk earned her first leg toward her Open Jumpers with Weaves Title at the Chesapeake National agility trial in Cincinnati OH on September 30, 2009.

Red Hawk earned her Senior Hunt title at the American Chesapeake Club hunt test at Hambden OH. on September 27, 2009. 

Eagle earned his Junior Hunter title at the American Chesapeake Club hunt test at Hambden OH. on September 26, 2009. 

2009 Chesapeake National results for Treasure Lake dogs:
Tigger: 3rd veterans dog 8 - 10 years & 3rd veterans sweeps 8 - 10 years.
Red Hawk: 3rd open bitch & 1st in agility open jumpers with weaves.
Eagle: 4th in 12 - 18 month dogs.
Condor: 1st in Hunting bitch.

Falcon earned her second leg for her Masters of Agility Jumpers title on August 7, 2009.

Eagle was Best of Opposite in Sweepstakes at the Mid-Coast Kennel Club in Maine supported entry on Saturday August 29, 2009.

Falcon earned her excellent standard agility title (AX) on Saturday July 11, 2009, at the Cleveland All-Breed training clubs agility trial in OH.

Tigger was awarded Best Veteran in Sweepstakes at the Echo Hills Kennel Club Of Ohio supported entry on June 13, 2009.

Pond Hollow Arctic Ice Blink JH completed the requirements for her Championship title on May 15, 2009 at the Greater Clarksburg WV KC dog show in Marietta OH.

American Chesapeake Club's Champion Master Hunter Trophy was earned by Kodiak (CH Idlywoods Northern Exposure MH WDQ held by Ray Heintel), Glacier Bay (CH Pond Hollow N TLCs Glacier Bay MH NAP NJP WDQ** held by Kathy Heintel) and Tigger (CH Safe Harbor Treasure Lake Geo MH WDQ** held by Bob Reckart). The trophy is only awarded to those dogs that complete their show ring championship and the highest level of hunt tests, the master hunter title. Kathy Heintel finished all the championships with the help of her friends, and all the dogs were trained and run by both Kathy Heintel and Bob Reckart in the hunt tests.

What We Do At Treasure Lake Chesapeakes.

Training Hunting Retrievers and Breeding Chesapeakes.

At Treasure Lake Kathy Heintel trains a wide variety of dogs, not just Chesapeakes. Although Kathy specializes in training Chesapeake Bay Retrievers to hunting titles, Kathy also enjoys training Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Pointers and Setters, for hunting, hunting titles, field trials, basic obedience, and to be well behaved household members.

We train show dogs as well as hunting dogs. We know how to keep your show dog fit and in ring form while field training.

We use a low pressure retrieving training method.  Dogs are obedience trained, taught to hold and force fetched, then positive reinforced for good performance.  This results in a willing and able retriever.  Even hard to train dogs can be willing and able retrievers. Our program includes obedience, ground work to start the dog handling for blinds, water retrieving, and land retrieving.  Dogs can compete for their Junior, Senior, Master hunter titles or their Field Trial titles.  Or your dogs can just be a great dog to take along on your personal hunting trips or walks to the park.

We breed for great temperaments, sound health, trainability, and conformation.  Our puppies are competing and receiving their titles in conformation, obedience, agility, hunting and field trials.  Our puppies come with written guarantees and a lifetime of help and placement if for some reason you can't keep your valued family member.  Treasure Lake breeds one to three litters per year during the winter months so that we can spend 24 hours a day with the puppies to develop them to their fullest potential.  You receive a puppy that has been evaluated by three different people for skills, conformation, and temperament.  The puppies have been introduced to birds, water (if possible), children, car rides, new and different environments, handicapped and elderly. Puppies are raised in the office and family room with many people coming to visit and play with the puppies.  Puppies are handled from the first day and worked with on an individual basis throughout the 8 weeks they stay with us.  Puppies are wormed and vaccinated by a licensed veterinarian.  We only breeds after researching both pedigrees, temperaments and abilities of the two dogs and their offspring and always plans on keeping one of the puppies for our breeding program.  We believe that Chesapeake Bay Retrievers should be dual titled dogs with titles at both ends of their names and well as valued members of your family.
